RICS approved insurance
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), like other professional bodies, sets standards that insurance policies and providers must meet in order to be approved for their members.
Any insurer who underwrites Professional Indemnity insurance for RICS members must be an approved insurer and must issue a policy that complies with the RICS minimum terms and conditions.
RICS also specify a minimum security rating it requires insurers to meet at the date they are granted listed status, so generally unrated insurers are not an issue for surveyors.
The minimum level of indemnity cover required by RICS is based on the firm's turnover in the previous year (or estimated for a new firm).
